Jeffrey B.


Jeff graduated from Connecticut College in 2013 with a degree in Literature in English with a concentration in the Critical Study of Race and Ethnicity. He then went on to teach high school English Language Arts in Framingham, MA. While there, he was the head coach for the cross country and track and field teams. During his 11 years teaching, he began and taught the AP Language and Composition class at his school. He received a Master’s Degree in Education from Simmons University in 2017. Currently, he is enrolled in the Doctorate of Education program at the University of New England, where he is focusing his dissertation on the equity of vocational high school admissions in Massachusetts. Currently, Jeff lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, while his wife completes her medical training at the University of Utah. During this year, Jeff is working at the University of Utah Medical School in the curriculum department as a Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship Coordinator, where he arranges schedules, proctors exams, and manages summative and formative assessments for third year medical students.

Jeff enjoys tutoring students in the art of writing and analysis, reading comprehension and synthesis, executive functioning, and personal narrative essays with a focus on the college essay. His approach is individualized and collaborative, using motivational interviewing tactics to help students reach their own conclusions while writing original arguments. His main philosophy in education is that in order to be successful, the educator must meet students at their current level of comprehension and ability, and then move forward with productive progress.

Outside of education, Jeff enjoys running, hiking, track and field spectating, making and eating pizza, and reading.
