Kristen G.


Kristen Gilyard earned her joint degree in Neuroscience and Mathematics from Harvard College. During her time at Harvard, Kristen worked as a course assistant for multiple courses in the Mathematics Department. Additionally, Kristen tutored for the Academic Resource Center. Kristen also worked as an SAT/ACT tutor. She taught individual and group sessions. For her senior honors thesis, she explored developing implicit learning strategies and improving learning experiences for students with developmental learning disorders. Kristen appreciates the opportunity to share the joy of learning. Kristen is passionate about breaking down the barriers that prevent students from approaching a topic. Kristen believes that every student has the innate ability to grasp concepts and would like to help students realize their potential.

Kristen strives to provide students with the tools to develop their skills in a personal and specific way. Each student is unique and requires a variety of methods on their learning journey. Kristen is particularly interested in the intersection of cognitive neuroscience and education. Kristen is always searching for new teaching strategies especially ones rooted in cognitive neuroscience research to provide students with quality individualized instruction. Kristen encourages students to deepen their conceptual understanding and apply learning strategies to their daily lives.

Kristen is currently pursuing her Masters at Harvard University. In her free time, Kristen enjoys ballroom dancing, reading, and singing.
