Even though the SAT, taken alone, is not a great predictor of success in college or beyond, it has become the gold standard in academic achievement. Indeed, college applications often hinge on these test scores (though every year, more colleges become SAT-optional). However, the stress and anxiety that surround the SAT and often get in the way of seeing the test for what it is.

The SAT is not a measure of intelligence, nor is the SAT a test of what a student has learned in school. Rather, the SAT tests one’s ability to succeed on a set of very particular standardized test questions. With the right guidance, the quirks of these problem types can be unlocked.

Unlike many major tutoring companies, Lotus Learning coaches do not follow a scripted pattern of instruction with general tips for each section of the test. Rather, we carefully analyze the results of a diagnostic test in order to develop a highly individualized tutoring plan based specifically on each student’s profile, and we monitor and adjust as we go along.

We have been devoted to making measurable differences in our clients’ college prospects. Our personalized approach has a proven track record of success with students at all levels: On average, our students’ scores increase by over 200 points. We look forward to speaking with you about how we can help you achieve your best results.

A note about the ACT: All of the above also applies to the ACT, an increasingly popular alternative to the SAT here in the Northeast. If you are interested in learning more about the differences between the ACT and the SAT and which test might be the better fit for you, we are happy to advise.
