Katrina O.
Katrina is excited to bring 12+ years of experience teaching English literature, language, and composition to Lotus Learning.
Katrina earned her bachelor’s in English and Secondary English Education, as well as her master’s in Curriculum and Instruction, at the University of Connecticut. Today, she is a proud member of the Westwood High School English department where she has had the privilege of contributing to the success of students for the last seven years. She has also served as an English Language Arts Content Specialist for Boston Public Schools and has taught a myriad of courses across grades and levels, including four years of AP Language and Composition.
Katrina discovered her appreciation for the power of personalized learning in college when she worked as an interdisciplinary Writing Center tutor. There she found her greatest passion—helping students develop their confidence as writers. This experience inspired her commitment to developing skills that transfer across classes and into students’ futures. Thus, she offers executive function coaching in addition to tutoring in English and writing. Her teaching is marked by patience, and her students would describe her as kind and dedicated to their success.
When she isn’t teaching, Katrina enjoys hiking with her two sons (her past favorite treks include The Narrows in Utah and the Salkantay trail to Machu Picchu) and running (she hopes to find the time to train for a third marathon soon)! She loves how these activities challenge her to develop endurance and grit and loves helping students cultivate these same traits in themselves.
